Marai + Google Calendar
The Marai integration with Google Calendar syncs your appointments in both directions in real time. When someone books in Marai, it appears in your Google Calendar. If you block a slot in Google Calendar, Marai marks it as unavailable. One single calendar, no duplicates, no scheduling conflicts.
What is the Google Calendar sync? It is a bidirectional connection that automatically keeps Marai and Google Calendar appointments in sync. New bookings, cancellations and schedule changes are reflected in both calendars in real time, preventing duplicates and overlaps.
Bidirectional real-time sync
How does the sync work?
Connect your Google account
From the Marai dashboard, click "Connect Google Calendar" and sign in with your Google account. Marai only requests the permissions needed to read and write to your calendar. The process takes less than 2 minutes.
Choose which calendars to sync
Select which Google calendars you want to sync with Marai. You can choose your primary calendar, shared calendars or both. Each team member connects their own.
Everything synced automatically
From that point on, appointments flow in both directions. When someone books in Marai, it appears in Google Calendar. If you block a slot in Google Calendar, Marai marks it as unavailable. No duplicates, no conflicts.
What exactly gets synced?
The bidirectional integration covers all relevant events for your appointment calendar. Marai does not access the details of your personal events — it only checks whether a slot is busy or free.
| Event | Marai → Google | Google → Marai |
|---|---|---|
| New booking | ✓ | — |
| Cancellation | ✓ | — |
| Schedule change | ✓ | — |
| Block slot | ✓ | ✓ |
| Personal event | — | ✓ |
Personal Google Calendar events are only used to block availability. Marai never shows the details of your personal events to your clients.
Benefits of syncing with Google Calendar
Single source of truth
No matter where you look — Marai or Google Calendar — the information is the same. Never run two calendars with different data again.
Avoid double bookings
If you have a personal commitment in Google Calendar, Marai automatically blocks that slot. Your clients only see genuinely available times.
Notifications on your phone
By syncing with Google Calendar, you get native Google notifications on your phone. Ideal if you already use Google Calendar as your personal diary.
Compatible with the whole Google ecosystem
The sync works with Google Meet, Google Maps and any tool that integrates with Google Calendar. Your workflow doesn't change.
Frequently asked questions
Is the sync real-time?
Yes. When an appointment is created, modified or cancelled in Marai, the change appears in Google Calendar within seconds. And vice versa: if you block a slot in Google Calendar, Marai marks it as unavailable automatically.
Can I sync multiple Google calendars?
Yes. Each team member can link their own Google calendar. Marai syncs each calendar individually, without mixing one professional's appointments with another's.
What happens if I already have personal events in Google Calendar?
Your existing personal events are respected. Marai blocks those slots as unavailable, so work appointments don't overlap with personal commitments. Personal events are never shown to your clients.
Does it work with Google Workspace?
Yes. The integration is compatible with both personal Google accounts and Google Workspace accounts. The connection process is identical in both cases.
Can I disconnect Google Calendar at any time?
Yes. You can disconnect the sync whenever you want from the Marai dashboard. Appointments already in Marai are preserved. Only future synchronization with Google Calendar stops.
